Accessible Content E-Portal
The Accessible Content E-Portal (ACE) contains alternative formats of the print book collections of participating Ontario colleges and universities.
Access ACE:
- Eligible users can request a token by filling out the ACE token form.

- Log-in to the ACE platform with your token to search for books.
How the ACE service works:
- Only current Humber students and faculty who have a verified perceptual disability can request access to ACE.

ACE is managed by Scholars Portal, a service of the Ontario Council of University Libraries. This initiative is possible because the Canadian Copyright Act supports persons with perceptual disabilities.
Library Building: North Campus
Do not hesitate to ask any library staff for assistance. In the event of a fire alarm, go to the nearest exit and wait for help in exiting the building.
- The elevators are wheelchair accessible.
- Accessible washrooms are available on every floor of the LRC.
- Clearview+ magnifier is available in the Library on the 4th floor.
- There are height-adjustable print release stations on the 3rd and 4th floors.
The Adaptive Technology Room is in L3082 on the 3rd floor of the LRC. The room includes the following:
- Hardware: 10 PC computers
- Software: Read & Write, Kurzweil 3000, Jaws, Zoomtext
- Notify staff if another student is using equipment that you need.
Library Building: Lakeshore Campus

- The Library entrance is a motion sensor door.
- The barrier-free lift provides wheelchair and scooter access between library levels. Get the lift key at the circulation desk.
- Washrooms are located just outside the Library.
- There are height-adjustable print release stations in the Library and the L Building.
The Adaptive Technology space is located on the main floor of the Library (library layout). The room includes the following:

- Software: Read & Write, Kurzweil 3000, Jaws, Zoomtext

DVDs and Streaming Videos
Check which DVDs and streaming videos are captioned:
- Use the Library's video search.
- Type "captioned" in the box.
- Browse the results list for what is available.
Contact staff at library.videos@humber.ca when:
- You don't find what you're looking for.
- Your required video is not captioned or another format is needed.
Database Vendor Compliance
LEAP is a College Libraries Ontario (CLO) initiative that is supported by the Ontario Colleges Library Service (OCLS).
- LEAP is a self-audit tool that library staff at participating institutions use to evaluate the accessibility of library e-resources.
- Completed evaluations are entered into a repository of accessibility assessment reports.
- Library staff can review the reports as they make acquisition decisions, support library users, and advocate for e-resource publishers to continually improve their accessibility features.
- Humber participates in LEAP by conducting accessibility assessments and adding them to the repository.
