Much of the Humber College land was originally an historic working farm. Barns and dwelling space were a part of the land package that Humber acquired early in 1967. An 1830s farmhouse was considered a heritage site, but by 1979 it was in bad repair and could not affordably be re-purposed for Humber's use. The site was later used for Arboretum demonstration gardens.
