Abstract:
As technology becomes more advanced, the amount and types of cybersecurity attacks on organizations continue to be on the rise. It can be extremely difficult to detect and prevent these attacks due to their sophisticated nature. The solution to protect firms’ information and reduce potential financial and reputational damage can be big data analytics. Big data analytics can be used as a powerful tool for organizations in making smarter organizational decisions because it can give a better picture of any particular event before it happens. This research paper examines how big data analytics can be used to protect accounting firms from experiencing a data breach. We conducted a survey with the target audience of information technology specialists who have experience in cybercrime and big data analytics. The research concludes that big data analytics is a powerful tool and should be used in corporations as the best method to protect against a breach of data.
