Abstract:
The public relations industry is a field that is full of creative and intelligent individuals. It is also an industry working to improve the inclusion of diverse individuals. An underrepresented demographic in the advancement of the diversity efforts includes individuals with learning and developmental disorders. Research over the last decade has pointed toward a neurodiverse workforce and the benefits neurodiverse individuals can bring to an organization through creativity and alternative perspectives. When it comes to the public relations industry, both these characteristics are ideal. This thesis analyzes how neurodiverse individuals navigate the workplace, and in particular the public relations industry, by surveying individuals who identify or have been diagnosed as neurodiverse to better understand how they currently navigate and wish they could navigate the workplace.
