Proposing an Additional Building for Humber College Students – Learning Commons for the Purpose of Stimulating Productivity and Creativity

Abstract: 
The purpose of this study is to learn the triggers of students’ creativity and productivity within an academic Learning Commons. The implementation of visual cues, Technology and the rise of communication are found to stimulate creativity. Furthermore, essence of Home, Sport and Play, Nature and Relaxation are all themes that enhance students’ academic journey. Finally, designating a Learning Commons to a specific group of students, makes it easier to identify and meet their needs. Research findings support that in order to create a Learning Commons that contributes to students’ academic success, interior designers must acknowledge the student body’s behavior and needs.
