Abstract:
Rice provides for half the world’s population, and the demand for higher production to feed the growing population poses challenges. The high water and labor requirements along with urbanization negatively affects rice production. Mechanization and streamlining the rice farming process will combat the reduction of farm labor availabilities while meeting enhanced demand. This report analyzes user behavior, ergonomics study, research on existing products, and interviews with rice farmers in order to achieve a solution that alleviates the physical strain and streamlines the transplanting and harvesting process.
