Abstract:
This thesis paper explores the implementation of two interior design strategies, biophilic design and stress recovery theory, within the context of creating a wellness dance centre focused on the rejuvenation and well-being of dancers. The study's conceptual framework intends to focus on the harmonious merging of dance studio design and wellness centre design to create a nourishing environment for dancers to focus on performing at their best and being their best selves. The study engaged in various research methods such as literature reviews, case studies, field studies, and interviews in which data on dance and wellness space design, the dance environment, and the dancers' physical and mental health were discovered. The results of this study indicate that there is a need for a designated environment in which dancers who are found to struggle with their physical and mental well-being can focus on healing themselves. Finally, this study will explain how mimicking a natural environment by incorporating biophilic architectural elements and stress recovery theories within a wellness dance space creates an alternative atmosphere that is grounded in renewal, encouraging healthier practices and overall well-being among dancers.
