What Is the Idea Lab?
The Idea Lab is a library initiative designed to support digital fluency at Humber College. The Idea Lab has four components: studio spaces, workshops, online resources, and student supports.
Spaces
The Idea Lab currently has four bookable spaces on the third floor of the LRC building at North campus: a video studio, an audio studio, and two 3D printer workstations. Our spaces are available to Humber and Guelph-Humber students, staff, and faculty but priority will be given to students working on assignments. These spaces can be reserved using the “Book a Studio” section below.
Workshops
The Idea Lab team holds regular open workshops on a variety of topics such as creating videos, building simple websites, and 3D printing. Workshop descriptions and schedules can be found below.
Online Resources
The Idea Lab has curated a suite of online resources to support the creation of digital media such as podcasts, videos, and infographics.
Student Supports
The Idea Lab provides email support as well as online appointments for students working on digital assignments. The Idea Lab also schedules open labs where students can work on assignments with Idea Lab staff on hand for troubleshooting and guidance. Open labs are scheduled in our workshop calendar.
