Abstract: 
The advent and increased usage of social media have been both disruptive and revolutionary for the music industry, requiring the modification of traditional business models and a willingness to adapt in order to keep up with the interests and demands of fans and consumers. This thesis examines how social media has changed the functionality and overall business landscape of the music industry for artists and music industry professionals, including public relations (PR).
