Abstract:
Investor relations (IR) and public relations (PR) are valuable functions within an organization. The investor relations practice focuses on communicating to investors, analysts and the financial media, whereas the audience of public relations is broader. Although both IR and PR departments communicate with different audiences, it is important that they have an effective relationship in order to successfully integrate organizational key messaging. Consistent messaging gives organizations a competitive advantage, instills trust from stakeholders and helps gauge positive analyst perceptions. This paper examines the relationships between investor relations and public relations departments in Canada.
