How do I place a hold on a Library book?

If the book you’re searching for has a Place Hold option, go ahead and place the hold. We’ll reserve the book for you and send you a notification as soon as it becomes available.

  • Textbooks are not holdable to ensure all students have equal access.

Follow these steps to place a hold:

  1. Go to the Get It section of the book record.
  2. Sign in to your Library Account with your Humber Username.
    1. Note: This step is skipped if you're already signed in.
  3. Select the Place Hold option.
  4. Choose a pick-up location before sending the request.

Choose from these two options to cancel a hold:

  • Cancel online via the Requests menu in your Library Account.
  • Allow the hold to expire automatically. This will happen if you don’t pick it up from the circulation desk within seven days. No fines are charged for holds that are not picked up.
